Wood is a natural product
We have a very large stock and there is a lot of choice. Wood is a natural product, there can always be differences even if it is the same finish and the same type of wood. On this page more information about the different finishes. Nowadays we mainly work with the rustic and smooth finish.
The rustic finish of teak wood: Dingklik / Rustic / Old wood
The name says it all, it is old recycled teak wood that is reused to make very beautiful rustic teak furniture. The recycled teak often comes from old buildings and old wooden houses that are demolished. In addition to the extra atmosphere that this old weathered teak gives to a new piece of furniture, it is of course also great that the wood is reused.
Features: The rustic, old wood finish is, as the name suggests, a little coarser and has a little more structure compared to the smooth finish. In addition, this finish is a little darker.

The smooth finish of teak wood: Smooth / Lesung / Strak
It couldn't be clearer. It is untreated teak with an even finish. This keeps the natural look of the wood beautifully visible. Blank teak can be used for both plantation teak and old recycled teak. The big advantage of teak is its simplicity in maintenance. Teak is very greasy and therefore less sensitive than other types of wood to water stains etc. That is why the furniture can also be used naturally.
Features: The smooth finish is also recycled teak, only then it is completely planed and sanded. The wood is therefore slightly lighter compared to the rustic version.

Mix & Match
It is not the case that if you choose a rustic table, for example, the chairs must also be rustic. Or, for example, a rustic cabinet with a table that is smoothly finished. Both finishes are often combined with each other.

Other finishes:
Brushed teak: Old Brushed / Kasar
Sometimes the furniture may look just a little bit more robust or rougher. A very nice finish is then brushed teak. Sometimes also called kasar . The wood is then treated with steel brushes, this can be done by hand or semi-mechanically. This treatment brushes out the softer parts of the wood, giving the wood a nice rough appearance. A treatment that is similar to this is glass blasting or sand blasting. Because teak is a greasy type of wood, the oil that is naturally in the wood comes out through the friction. It often looks like there is a layer of wax or something else on it, but this is purely natural.
