Monastery tables made from old recycled teak wood
In addition to the traditional models of tables on 4 legs, you can also come to us for the teak monastery table, sometimes also called a castle table. These beautiful tables are made of old wood and have a unique look.
Characteristic of the teak monastery table is the overhanging top with 2 heavy column legs underneath that are connected with a crossbeam.
Large stock of monastery tables
Normally we have every size in stock, often also several of every length, so there should almost always be a suitable monastery table for you! You can choose a table yourself, if you have your own transport, taking it with you immediately is a possibility.
Of course we can also deliver the table, the table is delivered by two people and assembled on site. Ordering online is also no problem, we will contact you in advance to make an appointment and you can pay upon delivery.
How is the teak monastery table made?
These monastery tables come from Indonesia and are made there in a traditional way. Central Java is known for its great knowledge and craftsmanship. Many furniture makers can be found here. We carefully select them so that you can enjoy a 1st quality monastery table for years to come. Please note that this model table has 'end planks'. These give the table extra atmosphere and character. However, it is possible that small cracks can occur due to changing humidity in the house. If you definitely do not want this, we recommend a table without end planks.
Solid column legs and solid top made of recycled teak wood
These are heavy tables! The wooden monastery table consists of two solid legs - in some places almost 20cm - a solid cross plank and a top that is 6cm all around and 3cm on the inside, all made of old teak. Fortunately, the wooden monastery tables are made to be dismantled and we can assemble them for you on site. Such a heavy top must certainly be delivered by two people and the larger tables we prefer to do with three people if possible. The old teak wood that is used for these tables comes from old houses and buildings in Java, Indonesia. Old beams are sawn in half and then processed into these beautiful monastery tables. This beautiful old wood gives the tables character and an authentic look.
What to look for when purchasing a wooden monastery table
Since the top protrudes far on the end sides, the legs are further inward. This ensures that you are not as free in placing the chairs, unless they are slid over the leg. A table with a length of 250cm can therefore only place 3 chairs with armrests on the long side. A chair can also be placed on the 2 end sides, so a total of 8 chairs will fit.
For a monastery table that is 220cm long, 2 chairs with armrests fit on the long sides. On the 2 end sides as well, so a total of 6 chairs fit. Chairs without armrests are a bit easier because they are less wide. You can also place more of them.
And see also the example of 300x100cm with 8 matching chairs. If you do not want to put the chairs over the legs, 4 pieces fit on both long sides. In total 8 chairs plus possibly 2 more chairs on the end sides if desired. This information also applies to the tree trunk tables .
What sizes of teak monastery table are available?
Below are a few images of our beautiful monastery tables made of old teak. Due to the high demand for these tables and the artisanal way in which they are produced in Java, we unfortunately cannot always meet the demand. However, we try to be able to deliver the following dimensions from stock. Other dimensions are possible in consultation, delivery time +/- 4-5 months.
Excellent to combine

Outdoor monastery table: monastery garden table especially for outdoors
This beautiful monastery table has been in our assortment for a long time and we were regularly asked if it was suitable for outdoor use. Under a canopy this was possible, but not completely free in the sun and rain.
Without openings in the top and legs, gaps can occur. That is why we have specially adapted the model so that it can also be placed completely freely outside. This garden monastery table is available in 200x100cm - 250x100cm - 300x100cm and occasionally in stock in 350x120cm and 400x100cm. In recent years we have already sold this beautiful garden table frequently throughout almost all of Europe!
